Kalash Festival Chelum Jusht; no tourists be allowed to enter Kalash valley…..DC Chitral

A meeting was held today in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Chitral Lower which was attended by the Kalash Qazis / elders of the Kalash Community representing all the three valleys (Birir, Bumburate and Rumboor).
It was a preparatory meeting regarding the ChilimJusht festival. It was stressed that due to the current wave of Covid19 pandemic, all types of social, cultural, political and religious events, gatherings and processions are banned.
It was decided to hold the festival in a limited manner with stringent enforcement of SOPs. The period from 8th May to 16th May 2021 is a lockdown period with only few exemptions in order to curtail disease spread.
No tourists either domestic or foreign will be allowed to enter any of the valley. The entrances to the valleys in particular and tourist spots of Chitral in general will be sealed and no tourists will be allowed as per the NCOC, Interior Ministry and Home department KP instructions.
DC Chitral Lower has requested to comply with the directions in letter and spirit in order to keep everyone safe.
