CHITRAL: The cluster organization of the nazims of all the 100 village councils of Chitral have demanded of the government to take cognizance of the embezzlement in the distribution of relief package for the poor and the needy by the officials of Pakistan Baitul Maal’s (PBM) Chitral chapter which had been provided by the Qatar Charity.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the president of All village Nazims Forum Chitral, Sajjad Ahmed Khan has said that the Qatar based charity organization had sent both food and non-food items for giving out to the poor and the flood affected in Chitral through the PBM but these were distributed totally on political basis.
He alleged that the village nazims were the representatives of the people on grass root level and all such charity goods are processed through them who guided the donor agencies in locating and identification of deserving persons and families but the local incharge of PBM totally ignored them.
The head of the nazims forum said that they came to know when the relief goods had been distributed among the non-deserving people while the district administration was also bypassed in this regard and they did not bother even to bring it to their notice.
Mr. Khan said that in the DC’s office, a disaster management department exists which coordinates and controls the relief works by different organization in order to save them from doubling and thus ensure even distribution of goods among all the affected people and ignoring this office they acted arbitrarily.
He said that the unjust distribution of relief goods of large volume has sent shock waves among the poor and the affected people across the district who wanted an inquiry into the scam and bring to book the culprits.
