  • International Nowroz, Forest  and  Poetry Day Observed at AKHSS Kuragh

    KURAGH:  AKHSS Kuragh celebrated International Day of NowroForest and Poetry with great enthusiasm. The event was attended by forest department officials, AKS Booni staff members, parents and community members from kuragh and Charun.The event was presided by Ms. Laghal Nisa, community member,and Mr. Yousuf Farhad, SDFO, attended the event as a chief guest.

    The program started with the recitation of the holyQuran by Bushra Ansari of grade 9 followed by Naa’t by students of grade 12. Mrs. Sultana Burhanuddin, principal AKHSS Kuragh, took the opportunity to welcome the guests and shared the objectives of the program. In her speech,she stressed upon the importance of forest and its unlimited benefits. She also highlighted the significance of poetry through highlighting the role of literary figures in Pakistan Movement. She said that by using the medium of poetry, the poets were successful in motivating the masses at that time.

    Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Fida Muhammad, LecturerIslamiat, talked about the essence of Nowroz by focusing on its religious and cultural significance. He said that Nowroz is the celebration of rebirth and renewal. He added that the beautiful thing about Nowroz is that it has taken different shapes wherever it has reached. He concluded his speech by sharing the message of Nowroz which is to keep balance in one’s life.

    Chief guest of the event, Mr. Yousuf speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan loses thousands of hectaresof forests every year and is known to have the highest rate of deforestation in Asia. He added that because of deforestation, the people of Chitral has been exposed to landslides and flash floods. Tree plantation is a dire need of the time to fight against global warming, to control air pollution and to provide greener environment for the current and future generations. He said that realizing the situation, KPK government started Billion Tree Tsunami Project in 2014. He further said that all the individual specially students have to play their role in this cause.

    Ms. Pari, a poetess from Booni narrated her heart touching poem in connection with the International Poetry Day reflecting the theme of suicide.

    The students of AKHSS Kuragh participated in the event by presenting different items in relation with the international days reflecting the importance of Nowroz, Forest Day and Poetry Day.At the end students were presented with certificates from KSF, Afaq and Global Essay writing Forum.

    The eventconcluded with a note of thanks by ShujaUddin,Senior Lecturer Chemistry AKHSS Kuragh followed by plantation at AKHSS Kuragh. Students along with the guests planted trees in the premises of AKHSS Kuragh.
