In The Name of ALLAH The Almighty

Pakistan Tahreek Insaf
By Zahiruddin
CHITRAL: The Chitral chapter of Pakistan Tahreek Insaf
sharply divided into two factions when the elections to the
district offices were boycotted by wing commander (retired) Fardad
Ali Shah and his supporters who termed the process as farce while
Abdul Latif was unanimously elected as district president.
The supporters of Fardad Ali Shah, led by Amanullah, Gulfaraz Khan,
Muhammad Zabar Khan and others addressing a press conference
alleged that those holding elections were not authorized to do it
by the higher leadership but they are doing it to get themselves
elected office-bearers by shady means.
They said that elections should be held in transparent manner and
there should be well defined electoral college while in the present
drama of elections, only the hand picked workers have been called
to cast their votes.
They said that the two aspirants to the office of district
president, Fardad Ali Shah and Haji Sultan Muhammad were not
present in the district and seizing this opportunity, Mr. Abdul
Latif staged the drama of elections to get himself elected.
They have demanded of the provincial and central leadership to
annul the elections and send a committee to Chitral to hold the
elections afresh otherwise the party will face a severe setback in
the district.
Meanwhile, Abdul Latif refuted the allegations of his rivals and
claimed that the elections were fair and he had been authorized by
the provincial leadership to hold the elections and that the proper
announcements to this effect had also been made a week before.
He said that the party workers were united under a single banner
and there was no fissure in its ranks.
He said that he was elected as president in accordance with the
aspirations of the sincere workers of the party and will try his
level best to rise to the occasion and render the party an
indomitable political entity in the district.
Mr. Latif said that the right of voting was given to those workers
who had membership forms duly issued by the competent authority of
the party.
