CHITRAL: The shutter down strike of the
Traders Union Chitral against the failure of power supply to the
city was extended to 5th March here on Sunday which was started on
Friday last. The markets wore a deserted look and the people
experienced hardships due to the closure of the shops. The trader’s
leaders Habib Hussain Mughal reiterated his demand to the Chitral
DCO Rahmatullah Wazir that the traders will continue their shutter
down strike till restoration of incessant power supply to the city
and removal of line superintendent Ghulam Rashid. He alleged that
Ghulam Rashid and some other officials of PESCO were responsible
for the mess. He said that the traders had decided for three-day
shutter down but it was to be extended as the government paid no
heed to them. All the efforts of Chitral DCO to persuade them to
call off the strike ended in failure. The protesters were raising
slogans against the WAPDA officials and elected members national
and provincial assembly from Chitral. The effigy of line
superintendent Ghulam Rashid was kept hanging from an electric pole
near the protest camp at PIA chowk.
