Haji Sultan Muhammad of Chitral among hundred eminent Pakistanis in UAE

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: One Sultan Muhammad from a remote area of Chitral has managed to get himself counted among the first hundred eminent Pakistanis in United Arab Emirates (UAE) by dint of sheer hard work and toil, reads the recently published book titled Muttahida Arab Emaraat ke 100 Maroof Pakistani. Published by Pakistan Publications Karachi and co-authored by Shiekh Muhammad Parvez and Tahir Munir Tahir, the book gives the detailed description of those Pakistanis who rose to eminence in UAE. The reason of the inclusion of Mr. Sultan in the rank of the prominent Pakistanis seems to be that he had gone there as an ordinary labour but now turned to the employer of hundreds of employees in his business establishments. Sultan Muhammad has been ranked in 40th position in the book. Giving a detailed sketch of his development into a tycoon over a period of only five years, it has been said that after reaching Dubai in 1987 as an unskilled labour, he worked day and night in a construction work where his assigned task was digging ground. He was only twenty two years of age at that time. Owing to his dedication to his duty and his robust stamina of working for more than twelve hours daily, the owner of the construction company promoted him to the position of foreman. In the capacity of foreman, he proved his mettle and gained fame among the Pakistani community. He was offered a lucrative job in Raja Gas Company in 1990 and this was a turning point of his life. The next year, owner of the company Masood Parvaiz made him the sole owner of the company which he had promoted to one of the leading gas companies of UAE. Expanding his business, Mr. Sultan established a series of bakeries in the length and breadth of the country and also joined the construction industry. Now more than two hundred Pakistanis are on his pay roll promoting his business. He has made it compulsory upon himself, he considers only Pakistanis for employment. The book enumerates the main characteristics of Mr. Sultan as a man who started from nothing but rose to the sky of prominence. In UAE, he is known as social worker and each needy person rushes to him to get his problem solved because he is now more a social worker than businessman. He visits his home district Chitral in each two months, just to see his old father who stays in his ancestral village Arandu. The most pleasure, as stated by Mr. Sultan, he derives from serving his father. Mr. Sultan considers only Imran Khan as the real and selfless leader of the poor people of Pakistan. According to him, Imran Khan can drive the country out of the morass it has fell into and liberate it from the yoke of America.
