CCDN Election held, Abdul Ghafar elected
Chairman

CHITRAL: Abdul Ghafar Khan was elected as the chairman of
Chitral Community Development Network (CCDN) which is the umbrella
organization of fourteen local support organizations (LSOs) working
for rural development based on community participation. The newly
elected chairman represented the LSO named Koh Integrated
Development Programme which covers the union councils of Koh and
Denin. Those who were elected as members of board of directors
included Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, district nazim Maghfirat Shah,
tehsil nazim Sartaj Ahmed Khan, Islamuddin and Moulana Habibullah.
Six women were also chosen for the board both from lower and upper
Chitral. Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected chairman Mr.
Khan said that the LSOs are working as the arteries for rural
development on self-help basis fully utilizing the local resources
and potentials and have proved their mettle. He eulogized the
efforts of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) for infusing
life into the village organizations and then organizing them into
LSOs on union council level. He said that AKRSP has strengthened
the LSOs as independent entity and the establishment of the new
platform of the LSOs will prove a hallmark in rural development and
poverty alleviation. He said that the main characteristic of the
LSOs is the confidence of hundred percent local community they have
won due to their transparent and selfless efforts.
