Democracy and Lawari Tunnel
This is terrible news for all Chitralis especially, for those who
are living outside Chitral for earning purpose that Lawari tunnel
project has been put in to a failure phase by bring the release of
required funds to a halt. By the time the new set-up of present
government established, it was suspected that a big tragedy would
happen with the sincere and simple minded public of Chitral. It is
a matter of shame and more misery that it could happen in the reign
of democracy.
Time by time, democracy and dictatorship played
an awful game with the public of Chitral in this regard. Democratic
government started the project of Lawari Tunnel few decades ago but
at a sudden, a dictator ruined the project. Again another dictator
initiated the project successfully, and this time, the project is
near the completion, a so called ‘democratic government’ of the
province is on its way to mess up this project proving itself being
dreadful and dangerous than the dictatorship. I personally don’t
think that a government who even does not tolerate other nations in
the province other than Pukhtoons can do something good for Chitral
as Chitralis are not Pukhtoons because they don’t speak in Pushtu.
But what happened to PPP? The founder of PPP Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali
Bhuttu had a great love for Chitral and its people, and Chitrali
people will never forget his contributions for this backward
region. Chitralis never expect any bad thing from PPP.
If any political party or government mistakenly
create hurdle in the completion of this project, it will result in
a great agitation in the region. Chitrali people will spare no
effort to resist the opposite vigor by all means. They will declare
a war against the opponent force because this is a matter of life
and death for the Chitralis. Through these lines, I suggest the
government to resurrect the project by releasing its required fund;
otherwise government will be responsible for the circumstances
which will create in the region in case of hindrance of this
project.
