Relief activities in Chitral reviewed

CHITRAL: In a meeting held here on Wednesday with Chitral DCO on the chair, the relief activities for the flood affected people were reviewed. Different organizations engaged in relief activities presented their reports. The district heads of various political parties also attended. The participants expressed their satisfaction over the pace of activities being carried out in the affected areas. However, they emphasized the need of the restoration of road infrastructure throughout the district which has crippled life in many valleys of the district. They said that the roads have been swept away by the floodwater and the absence of road infrastructure has hampered the relief activities as well. Addressing on the occasion, the Chitral DCO Rahmatullah Wazir claimed that the district administration has established a close liaison with both government departments and the various NGOs to ensure a meaningful relief operation in the affected areas. He told the meeting that the provincial government has been apprised of the devastated infrastructure for which required funds will be made available in due course of time.
