Food items distributed among flood affectees

CHITRAL; Food items were distributed among the flood affected people of Ochusht, Mastajapandeh and Chitral Gol here on Saturday under the auspices of National Bank of Pakistan. Chitral DCO Rahmatullah Wazir gave away the food package to the affected in a function in the bank premises. Manager of the Main Branch of the bank Adnan Khan said that the bank will provide food package to the 250 families across the district affected by the flood. He said that the identification of the affected families has been made on the basis of the assessment of the district administration and some NGOs engaged in relief activities. Addressing on the occasion, Chitral DCO said that the district administration is working day in and day out to provide the affected people with quick relief and restore the basic infrastructure devastated by the flood. He said that the water supply scheme to the Chitral city has been restored after a hectic effort of sixteen days whose pipes were washed away by the river flood. He eulogized the efforts of the bank for lending support to the government in providing food items to the affected people.

Meanwhile District administration Chitral, with the facilitation of CESSD, a CIDA funded project, distributed food rations among 22 flood affected families in Jutilasht village. DCO Chitral Rehamtullah Wazir, Major Ghulam Rasool, K.A.Jamil Coordinator CESSD, media representatives and other government officials and volunteers were present on the occasion. DCO Chitral said that the government is keen to provide each every possible facilitation to the flood afectees He lauded the role of CESSD in these crucial days and hoped that the project would continue its support to district administration. District Coordinator CESSD told that his project is facilitating the district administration in relief operation within its capacities. The food ration included flour, rice, ghee, sugar, pulses, date, tea leaf, dry milk and match box. It is worth to mention that CESSD is a Canadian (CIDA) funded project working in Chitral district also.

AKES,P teachers go on strike for rise in salary

CHITRAL: The strike of the teachers of the secondary schools run by Aga Khan Education Service in Chitral has entered its second week on Saturday. Sources said that the teachers had been protesting over the low rate of salary in the organization. The teachers had warned of launching strike last month to the management and had demanded proper service structure and salary package for the teachers. The organization is currently running as many as fifty one secondary schools in the district mostly in the backward and remote areas. The parents have expressed their concern over the waste of the precious time of their children due to the strike of the teachers.
