Action against Telenor and ZTE demanded

CHITRAL: Convener of Chitral Dost
Movement Haji Sardar Muhammad Khan has demanded of the prime
minister and chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to
take stern action against two mobile telephone companies Telenor
and ZTE who have abandoned Chitral without clearing their
outstanding to the tune of 130 million rupees. Addressing a press
conference here on Monday, he said that the two companies had
embarked on fixing towers in seventy places in different localities
of the district three years ago and completed 80 percent of the
work in December 2008. He said that the companies had engaged the
services of more than four hundred percent in different capacities
and hired the land in the localities for the tower. He said that
the contract of civil work was awarded to a company named Unique
Construction Company. Mr. Khan said that after December 2008 the
company left the area and did not return till now leaving hundreds
of poor people affected. He warned that if the companies did not
turned up with two weeks, then the construction company and the
affected people will be forced to put to auction the assets of the
two companies in Chitral into public auction and recover their
dues. A representative of the construction company, Hazrat Hussain
was also present on the occasion.

Deforestation in Chitral flayed

CHITRAL: The information secretary of
Peoples Youth organization Malakand Division, Iqbal Hayat has
demanded of the provincial government to take special measures to
stop forthwith the deforestation of Chitral forests which are
already depleting. In a press statement issued here on Monday, he
alleged that on the pretext of wind fall and dry fall, the fresh
trees of Chitral forests are being harvested by the powerful timber
mafia. He said that the certain influential people are backing the
mafia in the area to mint money who have already looted the natural
wealth.

Pakhtunkhwa has decided to provide all kinds of artificial limbs
free of cost to disabled persons from Artificial Limbs workshop,
Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, says a notification issued here
by Zakat, Ushr, Social Welfare & Women Development Department Govt:
of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile the Food Directorate, Government of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has notified for information of general public
particularly for those who are engaged with the slaughter/sale
service of meat/beef that there will be no restrictions on
slaughter/sale service of meat during the month of Ramazan.

Rs. 46.35 million stipend will be disburse
among 3868 unemployed graduate of the province

PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa will disburse an amount of Rs.46.35 million as stipend
to 3868 unemployed graduates of the province.
The Social Welfare’s ‘Special Committee on Payment of Stipends to
Unemployed Graduates’ decided this today in its meeting held at the
Directorate of Social Welfare with the Secretary Social Welfare
Department Sahibzada Fazal Amin in the chair. The Director Social
Welfare Abdul Hakim Khan, Additional Secretary Finance Mushtaq Khan
and other concerned officers of Higher Education, Health and
Religious Affairs Departments attended the meeting.
The meeting was told that 24 District Government of the Province
have forwarded 3868 applications of eligible unemployed graduates
who will be given Rs. 1000/- per month as unemployment stipend for
one year and an amount of Rs.38.60 million has been allocated for
this purpose. The Directorate, on this occasion, was asked to
ensure provision of the stipend to all the candidates in accordance
with the lists sent by the district administrations. It further
directed to submit a comprehensive summary to the Finance
Department to get the required additional grant of Rs. 7.75 million
to accommodate all of the candidates.
The meeting also discussed in detail the other problems and
difficulties being faced by the department in disbursement of the
stipend and taken various decision for their removal. The
participants did not agree to the proposal present by the
department to fix upper age limit for the deserving graduates with
a view to enable maximum number of such candidates to take benefit
of this welfare scheme. The Directorate was asked on this occasion
to take extra care in keeping accounts and disbursing amounts of
the scheme so as to avoid any Financial irregularities.
