Thousands of people protested in Drosh against the arrest of Gujar leaders

CHITRAL: Thousands of any protestors staged sit-in in front of Drosh police station here on Wednesday to lodge their protests against the arrest of Gujjar leaders Sher Muhammad and Anzar Gul. Addressing on the occasion, the protesters Al-Haj Khurshid Ali Khan, Haji Muhammad Shafa, Abdul Hakim Khan, Mehmudul Hassan and others appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo motto notice of the misinterpretation of the verdict of the Supreme Court about Phurate Gol forest of Sheshi Koh valley. They alleged that the district officer (revenue and estate) misinterpreted the verdict of the court and gave possession of the forests encompassing 32 kilometres of length to the local MNA Shahzada Mohyuddin. They alleged that when the affected people protested, the police registered criminal cases against them under terrorist act and arrested two leaders. Giving a deadline of three days for the release of their leaders and quashing of cases against others, they announced to march towards Islamabad from Chitral. Later on, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
