World Environment Day celebrates in Chitral

CHITRAL: In connection with world environment day, an awareness walk was held here on Saturday which started from Chew bridge and terminated at pologround. Members of civil society organizations, academicians, students of different schools and colleges participated in large number. Later on, a seminar was held in Chitral press club auditorium which was addressed by Muhammad Ashiq, Atta Elahi, Imtiaz Hussain, Gulzarur Rahman, Syed Sardar Hussain, Rahmat Hussain Jaffar Dost, Islamuddin and others. They enumerated the problems and hazards posed to the environment with special context of Chitral. the speakers presented their proposal for avoiding environmental degradation which is wrought by development activities. On this day, a group of twenty school students of Baroghil area had been brought here by Wetland Project on exposure visit where they were taken to Toshi game reserve near Chitral city to show them kashmir markhor in their natural habitat.

Chitral Border Police force revamped

CHITRAL: District coordination officer Rahmatullah Wazir has said that to efficiently control the 326 kms long border of Chitral with Afghanistan, the district border force is being revamped both in terms of men, weapons and infrastructure. Addressing on the occasion of inauguration of newly constructed quarter guard of the force here on Friday, he said that up gradation of the force was the need of the hour to check the infiltration of unwanted from the Afghan soil into Chitral. Mr. Wazir said that the district was connected to the adjacent Afghan area through thirty passes where forces will be concentrated and to house them, pickets will be erected there. He said that district border police will be brought at par with other forces. On this occasion, he inspected the guard of honour of a contingent of the force as its commandant.
