Aga Khan Health Service, (AKHSP) Chitral Celebrates International Nursing Day

BOONI: Aga Khan Health Service Pakistan, Chitral (AKHSP) arranged a daylong International Nursing Day celebrity program here on 30 Sunday at the conference hall of Pearl Degree College for Women Booni Chitral. This was the first Nursing Day program in the history of Chitral. The program aimed to celebrate this special day and give awareness to the participants on the career of Nursing. It also aimed to provide information to the participants about the emerging diseases, their causes and prevention.

A number of 250 participants including the honorary leadership, elites, students, teachers, media personnel and (AKBMC) family attended the program. Mr. Amir Afzal (President Regional Council Upper Chitral) presided over the program while Mr. Sardar Hakim (President Local Council Booni) was chief guest on the occasion. This colorful program included a variety of items such as drama, speeches, poetry, presentations and award distribution among (AKBMC) family for the recognition of their best performance. Those who spoke on the occasion were Mr. Amir Afzal, Mr. Sardar Hakim, Ms. Nusrat Jahan (Field Health Officer Upper Chitral) Mr. Zafar (GM AKHS Punjab & Chitral) the first lady Nurse of Chitral Ms. Laal Zumrad (who was also given the award of the first Nightingale of Chitral), Dr. Karim, Dr. Yasmeen, Shah Nizar (President Patient Welfare Society Booni), Mr, Kashafat Younus ex Nazim, Hazar Mohammad, Ms. Saeeda, Ms, Ruqiya and Nahida.

The themes of the speeches, presentations and other items encompassed the delivery of quality health services to the community and the role and responsibilities of a nurse that she/he demonstrates during her/his duty hours. Dr. Karim and Dr. Yasmeen gave comprehensive presentations on health care, heart disease, and hazards of coke. They also responded to the questions posed by the audience.

Addressing the audience Mr. Amir Afzal said that we need to develop the culture of public-private partnership to provide quality health service to the community. He congratulated to Aga Khan Booni Medical Center (AKBMC) for its best achievements in the field of health care and acknowledged the outstanding performance of the Nurses who deliver quality services not only in (AKBMC) but also in the other health care centers of the region. He appreciated the initiative of (AKBMC) for planning and organizing such a new and informative program and hoped to celebrate Nursing Day with great zeal in future.
