CHITRAL: Two persons claimed to be the divisional officer of communication and works (C&W) department in Chitral simultaneously and both exercised their authorities putting the subordinates in a fix as they did not know whom to obey. An official of the department told chitraltimes.com on Monday that Engineer Nazir Ahmed Khan was transferred by the competent authority a month ago to Peshawar and posted Engineer Javid Akbar in his place. He added that the former moved Peshawar High Court challenging order on the ground that his transfer was premature and that he was going on retirement on June 11 while the former resumed charge of his office in Chitral. The official said that on Sunday last, Engineer Nazir occupied the office of divisional officer while Engineer was residing in the rest house of the department due to vacation. When contacted by chitraltimes.com, Engineer Nazir said that he had got court order to assume charge of his office. When asked, he said that it was not required for him to get a fresh transfer order of posting from the competent authority based in the provincial capital Peshawar. While, Engineer Javid said that he has informed the secretary to the government, C&W department and chief engineer and will relinquish the charge only when ordered by them. On Monday, an amazing situation arose as one of the claimants was occupying the office while the other one stationed himself in the rest house of the department and issued orders and instructions from there.
