Protection demands from Provincial Government
By Zahiruddin
CHITRAL: The former district Amir of
Jamaat-e-Islami Chitral Abdullah Jan has demanded of the provincial
government to provide him protection against Shahzada Amir
Hasanatuddin of former royal family of Chitral who is trying to
seize his piece of land with the help of hired assassins and
hooligans. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said
that the prince had hired a squad of twenty five thugs from
Afghanistan and the border area of Arandu to dislodge him from his
piece of land which he had purchased in the year 1981 (he showed
the documents of purchasing deed to the journalists). Flanked by
former mayor of Chitral town Hakim Mujeebullah and tehsil nazim
Amir Khan Mir, he said that last night, the hooligans took hold of
his land situated near Chitral airport and encamped there. Mr. Jan
said that on the intervention of local police, the hired assassins
fled the spot and took refuge in the house of the prince but the
police has not arrested any one them. He said that the hired
assassins pose serious threat to the peaceful atmosphere of Chitral
and their very presence shows the vanishing writ of the government.
He said that the maintenance of private force armed to the teeth by
a person must be taken a stern notice of and the law enforcement
agencies must be taken into account for their negligence. The JI
leaders said that the presence of the hired assassins in Chitral
has filled its inhabitants with fear who are known for their
nonviolence. |
