Residents of Shishi demands Class IV Jobs of Sheshi Power
station
By Zahiruddin
CHITRAL: The residents of Lusht Sheshi village of Drosh town
have warned the government of stern and violent protests if their
sole demand of appointment of the locals against the lower scale
posts in the newly constructed hydro-power station is not met
forthwith. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the
elites of Drosh Al-Haj Khurshid Ali Khan, Haji Muhammad Shifa, Haji
Muhammad Ayub, Zumbool Khan and others said that the power station
has been constructed in their village due to which they are
affected. They said that the execution agency of the power station
small hydel development organization (SHYDO) is refusing even the
posts of peon, chowkidar, security guard, channel cleaners and
sweepers to them which is a sheer injustice with them. They
resolved their determination that the people of Sheshi will go to
any length to get their due right. They said that the local people
have launched hunger strike which has entered its 18th day and will
continue it till the acceptance of their demand. They regretted
that the provincial minister from Chitral Saleem Khan and MNA
Shahzada Mohyuddin did not bother to visit their hunger strike camp
and console them on their visit to the town. The elites of Drosh
cited the example of Reshun hydro power station where SHYDO has
appointed the locals against the non-technical posts and demanded
similar treatment with the residents of Drosh. They also warned
that the local people will never allow to non-locals to join their
duties in the power station appointed in the lower grades. They
reminded the government that the people of Sheshi have contributed
a great deal of service for the construction of the power station
and even sacrificed their fertile lands.
