Mahfil-e-Mushaira held at Koghuzi

CHITRAL: A global introduction has been given to khowar
language and literature through the coordinated and sustainable
efforts of Anjuman-e-Taraqi-e-Khowar Chitral, the only literary
organization working for the promotion and propagation of the
unique khowar language and literature. These views were expressed
by the President of the Anjuman-e- Taraqi-e-Khowar Chitral and
known writer Muhammad Yousuf Shahzad while addressing the
participants of the Mahfile Mushaira held at Koghuzi village under
the suspicious of Anjuman Koghuzi Chapter. Referring the
publication projects of the Anjuman he said that a book containing
the folk songs of the Chitral will appear in the market very soon.
This book has been written by renowned writer, poet, musician and
singer Gul Nawaz Khaki. Collections of poems of late poet Rehmat
Akbar Khan Rehmat is also in publication process. The president
said that a number of new projects are in the pipe line which will
be implemented in due course. 30 poets from Drosh to Booni Mastuj
recited their creative poems. The examination hall of Govt: High
School Koghuzi was full of audience who gathered there to listen to
the poets from Koh area. The senior poets who attended the program
included Moula Nigah, Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, Taj Muhammad Fiqar,
Muhammad Irfan , Shoukat Ali, Tanveerul Mulk, Behram , Hasan Basri,
Sher Ali Durani, and Ghulam Rasool.

Step taken for promotion of Paragliding in
Chitral

CHITRAL: Chitral’s topography presents an ideal place for
paragliding and carries tremendous potential for the promotion of
tourism but it is yet to be exploited. Speaking on the occasion of
the oath-taking ceremony of newly found Hindukush Association for
Paragliding in Chitral (HIKAP), the speakers said the introduction
and promotion of paragliding will add a new dimension to the
tourism industry in the area. “Apart from polo match and Kalash
culture, we can offer the tourists the sport of paragliding”, a
speaker said. They said that there are numerous places in Chitral
offering take-off points for paragliding and this belt of Hindukush
range is really a heaven for those fond of the sport. The speakers
pointed out that the plateau of Kaghlusht in upper Chitral has the
capacity to hold events on national and international levels. They
proposed to establish academy for the training of paragliding in
Chitral as the sport is gaining more and more popularity in the
country. They said that such an academy will act as catalyst to
promote the new emerging sport not only on national level but will
attract Europeans as well who have penchant for it.. They added
that the credit of introducing the sport in the area goes to the
adventurers of Europe who have spent their times in Chitral making
use of its ideal landscape for the purpose of flight. They said
that many world-renowned pilots were also attracted to the fabulous
sites of Chitral and many of them established the record of flying
over the mighty Terichmir peak. They expressed their pleasure over
the fact that more and more youth are joining this sport and the
number of paragliders is on high increase. They said that the
association of paragliders will unite them under a single banner
and coordinate and promote their efforts. On this occasion, the
assistant coordination officer Miftahuddin administered oath to the
office-bearers of the association. They included Saifullah Jan
(president), Shahzada Farhad Aziz, Zahid Hissam, Haji Bilour and
Dr. Farooq Khan. Those who addressed on the occasion included
tehsil nazim Sartaj Ahmed Khan, Abdul Wali Khan, Moulana Habibullah,
Major Naeem Khan and Dr. Noorul Islam.
