Hepatitis: An Alarming Threat
A covering story of Hepatitis A, B & C

Hepatitis A
It is an acute infectious disease of the liver caused by Hepatitis A virus. This is most commonly transmitted by the fecal-oral route via contaminated food or drinking water.

Hepatitis B
It is an infection & inflammation of liver cause by Hepatitis B virus.

Hepatitis C
It is a blood-borne infectious
disease that is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV), affecting liver.

Causes
• Consumption of unhygienic water cause Hepatitis A
• Consumption of unhygienic food cause Hepatitis A
• Unprotected Sex with the Multiple partners or with the patient having Hepatitis B or C cause Hepatitis B and C
• Reusing contaminated needles cause Hepatitis B and C
• Transfusing contaminated unscreened blood cause Hepatitis B and C
• Tattooing with unsanitary methods cause Hepatitis B and C
• Body piercing with the unsanitary methods cause Hepatitis B and C
• Acupuncture with the unsanitary methods cause Hepatitis B and C
• Needle stick injuries cause Hepatitis B and C
• Sharing personal items such as toothbrushes, razors, and nail clippers cause Hepatitis B and C

Signs & Symptoms
Following signs & symptoms typically appear 2 to 6 weeks after the initial infection.
• Fatigue
• Fever
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Appetite loss
• Depression
• Jaundice
• Sharp pain in the abdomen
• Weight loss
• Itching

Following signs & symptoms typically appear in Hepatitis B.
• Ill-health
• Loss of appetite, Nausea
• Vomiting
• Body aches
• Mild fever
• Dark urine
• Jaundice

Following signs & symptoms typically appear in Hepatitis C
• Feel tired
• Feel sick to your stomach
• Have a fever
• Not want to eat
• Have stomach pain
• Have diarrhea
• Dark yellow urine
• Light-colored stools
• Yellowish eyes and skin

Prevention
• Good hygiene
• Sanitation
• Vaccination

• Avoid unprotected sexual contact
• Avoid unscreened blood transfusion
• Avoid re-use of contaminated needles and syringes
• Vaccination

Prevention
• Avoid sharing drug needles or any other drug
• Avoid unsanitary tattoo methods
• Avoid unsanitary body piercing methods
• Avoid unsanitary acupuncture
• Avoid needle stick injury
• Avoid sharing personal items such as toothbrushes, razors, and nail clippers
• Use latex condoms correctly
