MNA warns to sue against Moulana Chitrali

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohyuddin has said that he will file a defamation claim against the former MNA from Chitral Moulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali for leveling false charges of corruption against him. Addressing a telephonic press conference from Islamabad here on Wednesday, he said that Moulana Chitrali badly failed to prove a single charge of corruption against him during his five years term in power. He supported the idea of investigation against him through a Supreme Court judge as put forward by Moulana Chitrali and said that he is not feared of presenting himself for accountability as he was never involved in any type of corruption. Mr. Mohyuddin said that he constructed a hotel in Chitral city from his own resources as he ran a business for long time. Conceding the allegation of changing party loyalty in different governments, he said that he did so just for the sake of his electorate to bring development funds for his constituency which was too backward. He said that he never changed his party to save himself from accountability. He said that his election as MNA from the area testifies the fact that he is above corruption.

Last session of Zilla Council held

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: In the departing session of the zilla council Chitral held here on Wednesday, the members asked the government to carry out the existing system of local bodies as it proved a panacea for the sufferings of the people as it ensured devolution of power to the grass root level. Presided over by convener Sultan Shah, the session discussed the pros and cons of the local bodies system at length and termed it the best one ever introduced in the country. They said that the district government provided the common man with opportunities for the solution of their problems at their doorsteps and the system had excluded the undue influence of bureaucracy. They castigated the bureaucracy for hatching conspiracy against the system leading to its failure and deprive the people of the fruits of devolution of power plan. The members warned the government of disastrous results if the system is done away with altogether. They also enumerated the achievements of the district government and claimed it to be unparalleled in the history of the district in the field of development works and administrative reforms. They were unanimous to censure the provincial government of giving cold shoulder to the district government and alleged that it left no stone unturned to create problems for the district government. The members appreciated the roles of different organizations for extending their cooperation to the zilla council during the past four years and specially mentioned the local press. The members said that the DCO did not attend the session despite being invited.
