KHOWAR words TU and PISA
Dear Editor,
I want to share something with all of my khowar speaking fellows. I
felt unhappy when I saw a letter at 'Chitraltimes' written by Arif
Kheyal. He says that we should change 'TU' into 'PISA'
and according to him it is polite to use 'PISA' for singular person
instead of 'TU'. He tries to gave impression that it is polite way
of addressing elders. I am not agree with him because it is totally
against the rule of Khowar language and sometime totally impossible
to use. For example: We couldn't say 'PISA TAT KICHA ASUR?' as
other surround language people do--'aapk ke walid' in Urdu, stasu
plaar in Pashto--for singular person and could say only 'TA TAT
KICHA ASUR'. What DO you think Mr. Arif, could we say PISA Bok
(aap ki bivi), never! Every language has his own style and test and
word by word translating other's term just for politeness will make
it strange. We can only borrow term from other languages if we do
not have our own like Internet, computer, taktaar and jihaz. There
are very differences between borrowing terms from other language
and using style of other language. We have to promote our language
and culture but not for the sake of using the style of other
language and modify it into a new language.
