Paramedic staff strike, Notices issued
by EDO Health
By Zahiruddin
CHITRAL: On the fourth day of the strike of the
paramedical staff, the executive district officer (health) issued
notices to the office-bearers of paramedical association to join
the duty within twenty four hours failing which disciplinary action
will be taken against them which will result in the termination of
their services. The office-bearers of the association have also
been issued charge sheets for giving call of illegal strike in the DHQ hospital and instigating the paramedics to give up their
duties. EDO health Dr. Sher Qayum told chitraltimes.com that the office-bearers
have also been indulged in illegal activities in the past and the
competent authorities had ordered inquiry against them which
convicted them but no action was taken against them as they
promised to behave in future. He added that the same elements are
creating uprising against the department and tried to create
disturbance in the hospital but the hospital management has
assigned their duties to the nursing staff to save the patients and
their attendants. He said that those will be brought to book who
are deliberately trying to disrupt the system for their own
nefarious purposes. When the president of the association Khurshid
Ahmed was contacted, he said that the notice issued by the EDO has
no significance and they are not bothered even to reply his charge
sheet. It is pertinent to note that the paramedical staff have
launched strike to press their demands which included provision of
accommodation facilities, fire wood allowance and better service
structure.
