Journalists condemns suicide attack on Press

CHITRAL: In an emergency meeting held here on Tuesday , the
members of Chitral Press Club condemned the incident of suicide
attack on Press Club and termed a callous act which cannot
demoralize the journalists to perform their role in the war on
terror. Presided over by Jahangir Jigar, the meeting demanded of
the government to provide security to the journalists who are more
susceptible to the terror attacks in the province. The members
prayed eternal peace for the departed souls of those killed in the
incident.

Paramedical Staff on strike

CHITRAL: The strike of paramedical staff in DHQ hospital
entered the second day on Tuesday as a result of which patients and
their attendants are facing tremendous hardships. On the second day
of the strike, the class four employees and the sweepers also
joined the paramedics. The strike has been launched to protest the
rampant corruption and irregularities in the health department. The
leaders of the paramedics Khurshid Ahmed told the local journalists
that the strike will continue till the acceptance of their demands
which included solution of their accommodation problems, provision
of basic facilities, enquiry into the irregularities and bungling
in the health department and fire wood allowance. He said that the
lower staff in the health department are facing myriad problems and
are not able to discharge their duties to the best satisfaction of
the public. He warned that the strike will be extended to the whole
district and the second stage of the strike will be extended to all
the tehsil hospitals, rural health centres and basic health units.
The attendants of the patients said that due to the strike of the
sweepers, their patients are suffering highly. They strike of the
sweepers has filled the hospital with garbage, filth and wastes,
they added. No officer of heath department has so far approached
the paramedics for negotiation, the paramedics leaders said.
