Mistreat to animals

Through the column of your esteemed paper, I am writing this letter to express the relief I felt when I read about how we still have animal-lovers here in Pakistan.

With the recent issue raised concerning animal cruelty, some citizens have started to give attention to this matter-and this is a good thing! I myself am also an animal lover who feels disgusted when I see people treat animals with disrespect.

Is there a good reason why animals shouldn't be given the same amount of respect as we humans get? Are we being fair to mistreat animals just because we believe we have the power over them to do so?

Thanking you,
Syed Wahaj Ali

Global warming scam

Dear Editor:

I would like to inform the voting public about a website that they can go to about Global Warming. Our president is scheduled to go to Copenhagen in December to sign a treaty that will distribute our wealth to third world countries and it will supersede the constitution. It will create the One World Government, and there is no reversing this process, as we will be the major contributor of the wealth the other countries will not want us to opt out. All countries that sign this treaty can only opt out if they get the consent of all the other countries that have signed the treaty.

yours sincerely
Mahreen Fatima

Reckless Driving in the Streets

Dear Editor,

Reckless driving in the streets is going to make us stop all our works. It is now-a-days matter of risk to venture to walk along the streets. It appears that the streets were made only drivers oh the cars, taxis, rickshaws, buses and trucks. For as soon as they get into their vehicles they seem to forget all about the world except themselves. But we cannot subscribe to he view that the streets are meant for them only. All have equal rights on the streets.

If it is so, we cannot imagine why we, the pedestrians, should not be allowed to walk safely. only a little of consideration on the part of the drivers can ease the situation. There have been a large number of accidents recently owing to rush driving. But no effective step are reported to have been taken. Beside, the police on duty are of no help to the pedestrians. They cannot be traced when an accident takes place, but are most active when it is over.

Effective measures should be taken to make the drivers drive their vehicles in strict accordance with the traffic rules. The police should be instructed to be more active to see that the traffic rules are more effectively enforced on the drivers. We don't like to see the police stand inactive bad only to make a show of arrests after an accident takes place. Prevention, they should be made to realist, is an all circumstances, better then cure.

Yours truly,
Hira Aqil Karachi
