OUR FLAG OUR PRIDE
Respected sir,
This is to draw your attention towards a very important issue that
is easily observed during the Independence Day celebration that
involves the decorating part and especially using the small paper
flags.
I would like to say that our flag is our
pride and prestige. We should not overlook the fundamental issues
around it.
Our flag represents our nation. The larger green part represents
Muslims and the smaller white part represents Non- Muslims. But
many times it has been observed that the flags are not designed in
the right proportion. This should be avoided seriously.
Secondly, the paper flags should not be dyed other than green and
white. As now a days red, purple, blue, yellow etc colours are also
used instead of green for the purpose of a fancy look. As green and
white together represents peace and prosperity. These colours hold
vital meaning and therefore should not be changed merely.
Thirdly, the star and moon in our flag positions
towards top right. It denotes continuous advancement and progress.
But painfully while printing flags this issue is ignored and one
can note that the moon and star are not only placed on the wrong
hand side but also facing the bottom of the flag. And therefore the
symbol of progress is devastated. Last but not
the least and the bitter reality that turns the matter the most
melancholy is that after fourteenth of August nobody cares to put
the flags down. The paper flags drops down by wind and people even
walk over them. The flag, which we place highest on fourteenth of
August, are ruined and placed in sun until they are turned and we
do not even bother to put them down before the sunsets on
fourteenth of August.
Our flag is our identity, distinctiveness,
uniqueness and prestige symbol. It is not just a piece of paper
with some fancy patterns to decorate our houses and streets on a
particular day. It is our responsibility to look into this matter
with deeper concern to abstain from such disrespectful events.
Thanking You
QAMBER ABBAS
