Dowry system
Sir,
I want to draw the attention on dowry system. Among many things
that needed to be changed in our society dowry is also one of them.
Now its become a national curse. Most of the girls remain unmarried
due to this phenomena. The demand for dowry became a essential
condition for marriage settlement. Nowadays marriage becomes a
dowry hunter.
If parents are failed to provide a reasonable
and expensive dowry to their daughters then after marriage the girl
must listen taunts from her mother in law .Many girls commit
suicide after hearing these unbearable taunts. Its not bad to
provide gifts to the bride in her marriage but when this will come
out of their budgets then its is wrong. Today in these inflatory
days people cant be able to afford meal to the people so one must
think how they afford such a heavy demanded dowry. usually parents
our saying that our son is doctor or an engineer or professor etc
etc. but why girls qualifications were not considered, instead of
considering it, parents said that we want car or a house or some
cash money. If their sons are so much talented then why cant they
afford it to buy themselves.
As or holy Prophet (PBUH) said that; ''The best
marriage is that upon which the least trouble and expense is
bestowed''. It is said that now we are departed from the teachings
of Allah. We all must think about it and try to eliminate this evil
from our society.

Bio diesel!
Sir: Pakistan is a heavy importer of fossil fuels, and the total
value of imported fuel is in the billions of dollars. Given the
global economic climate, Pakistan needs to increase its energy
security by producing as much energy in-house as it can. One
possibility lies in the development of alternative energy sources,
of which one option is bio diesel derived from crop waste, wild
plants and trees growing on marginal land. In addition, the focus
should be towards non-edible oil producing feed stocks as initiated
by the Alternative Energy Development Board. PSO and NED University
have identified several non-edible vegetable oils such as castor,
pongame and jatropha for further research. These plants can grow
very easily on marginal land and, if planted on a large scale for
bio diesel production, can reduce petroleum imports and free up
valuable finances that can be employed elsewhere for the betterment
of Pakistan. Bio diesel is a sustainable, cleaner burning fuel as
compared to mineral diesel derived from crude oil.
Hence, further research is recommended to determine a possible
marketing and supply chain mechanism for bio diesel production and
distribution in Pakistan. In this respect, a university-industry
linkage should be taken up on priority basis with the backing of
the government.
