Shandur festival to be held on due date: Saleem

CHITRAL: Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan has
said that Chitralis had played due role in maintaining the peaceful
environment of the valley and announced that Shandur festival would
be held on its due date and tourists would be provided a pleasant
atmosphere to enjoy the festival.
This he said in meet the press in press club here on Sunday.
Saleem Khan said that their was no threat of any untoward incident
in the valley adding that work would be started again of Lawari
Tunnel from 20 July.
He said that provincial government had allocated Rs50 million for
Chitral by-pass and work on the project would be initiated soon
adding that a team would investigate about the forms of Benazir
Income Support Programme.
While answering a question, the minister said that recruitment for
CIADP would be made purely on merit; however, locals would be given
priority to reduce unemployment in the area.
Saleem Khan said that electrify shortfall would be reduced from the
local hydel projects.
He informed that huge amount of wheat was stocked however;
provincial government was planning to initiate skill training
programmes for the womenfolk of the area.
