Salim Khan inaugurates two high schools in Chitral
By Zahiruddin
CHITRAL: Provincial minister for population welfare Salim
Khan has said that as elected representative from the area, the
establishment of more schools and colleges for the girls is his top
most priority as the area is far backward in the female education
sector. Addressing two separate gatherings of people at Singoor and
Shoghore on the occasions of the foundation laying ceremonies of
girls high schools here on Saturday, he said that the in the
absence of schools the girls of the remote villages were attending
the boys schools which is quite contrary to the cultural norms of
area. He said that most of the parents hesitated to send their
daughters to the boy’s school and discontinue their studies and it
was the major factor of the dropout rate of girls in the secondary
classes. Mr. Khan expressed his firm determination that he shall
lay the network of girls school across the valley to save each and
every girl. The minister stressed on the parents to cooperate with
the government to ensure quality education in the public sector
schools by their active participation in the school affairs through
the parents teachers councils (PTCs). He said that the government
is utilizing the funds for the repair of schools through the PTCs
and make the process transparent. The minister told the gatherings
that despite the financial crunch, the provincial government has
allocated a large sum of money for the development of road
infrastructure in the district while all other sectors of
development have also been allocated a large chunk of money for the
current financial year.
