Chitral Scouts sepoy laid to rest in Zait village

CHITRAL: The dead body of yet another personnel of Chitral Scouts, Shahzad Rahim was transported to here on Saturday who had been killed during a clash with the militants in Kabal Swat the other day. His dead body was transported to Chitral by an army helicopter and laid to rest with full military hounour in his native village Zait, some 60 kms from here in the north.

Salim Khan inaugurates two high schools in Chitral

CHITRAL: Provincial minister for population welfare Salim Khan has said that as elected representative from the area, the establishment of more schools and colleges for the girls is his top most priority as the area is far backward in the female education sector. Addressing two separate gatherings of people at Singoor and Shoghore on the occasions of the foundation laying ceremonies of girls high schools here on Saturday, he said that the in the absence of schools the girls of the remote villages were attending the boys schools which is quite contrary to the cultural norms of area. He said that most of the parents hesitated to send their daughters to the boy’s school and discontinue their studies and it was the major factor of the dropout rate of girls in the secondary classes. Mr. Khan expressed his firm determination that he shall lay the network of girls school across the valley to save each and every girl. The minister stressed on the parents to cooperate with the government to ensure quality education in the public sector schools by their active participation in the school affairs through the parents teachers councils (PTCs). He said that the government is utilizing the funds for the repair of schools through the PTCs and make the process transparent. The minister told the gatherings that despite the financial crunch, the provincial government has allocated a large sum of money for the development of road infrastructure in the district while all other sectors of development have also been allocated a large chunk of money for the current financial year.
