CIADP Project will be launched by the next month

CHITRAL: In a meeting held here on Thursday chaired by
district nazim Maghfirat Shah, the district heads of all the
political parties in the district were told that with the aid of
Norwegian government, a development project will be launched by the
next month for which one billion rupees have been earmarked. The
project will work in the sectors of development with special
emphasis on education and health, the district nazim told the
meeting and added that the mode of its working will be community
participation. On this occasion, the chief executive officer of
THRIVE, an organization monitoring the Norwegian aid packages,
Azhar Ayaz was also present who assured the participants of
transparent and judicious utilization of the funds to fight poverty
and indigence in the area. The heads of different political parties
included former MPA Moulana Ghulam Muhammad (Jamaat-e-Islami),
former MPA Moulana Jahangir Khan (JUI), former MPA Saeed Ahmed Khan
(PML-Q), Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah (ANP), Abdul Wali Khan advocate
(PPP-Sherpao), Mir Dullah Jan advocate (PPPP) and Fazle Rahim
advocate (PML-N).

Flights to Chitral after eight days

CHITRAL: PIA flight operated to Chitral from the federal
capital after eight days here on Thursday which were cancelled
continuously due to the inclement weather in Chitral, sources said.
The flight on Peshawar-Chitral sector was, however, cancelled due
to the closure of Peshawar International Airport for security
reasons. Hundreds of passengers are reportedly stranded both in
Peshawar and Islamabad due to the frequent cancellation of flights
over a week. The passengers sad that due to the curfew in the Lower
Dir and Malakand area, they cannot travel through the road although
Lowari Top road has been opened for vehicular traffic.

Joint meeting of Chitral and Ghazur Administration
for Shandur festival held

CHITRAL: In a joint meeting of the administrations of
Chitral and Gilgit held at Phandar rest house near Shandur
pologround, it was decided that the decision of holding of Shandur
festival or otherwise will be taken in due course of time after
detailed study of the security situation in Chitral, sources said.
the participants of both the sides decided to convene local
meetings of the stake holders and security agencies for further
deliberations to reach at a decision. The polo festival in the
highest polo ground of the world-Shandur- is regularly held since
1982 while this year, the people of Chitral demand its cancellation
due to the volatile situation in the adjoining districts of Swat
and Dir district as a result of military operation against the
militants.
