Thumb impression machine out of order in Chitral NADRA Office for the last one month

CHITRAL: The absence of thumb impression printing machine in NADRA office Chitral for the last one month has caused annoyance for those who visiting the office to apply for computerized national identity cards from the distant areas of the district. The people returning from the NADRA office said here on Saturday that unaware of the fact, they had travelled a long distance to Chitral city while they were asked to visit the office again when the thumb machine is transported here. Some NADRA officials said that the machine had been sent to Islamabad for repair when it developed fault last month. They said that the same has been dispatched from the headquarters of NADRA by Pakistan Post but it is yet to be received here due to the frequent cancellation of PIA flights from Peshawar. The people said that due to the peculiar geographical position of the district, there should be a spare thumb machine in Chitral. They complained that a good number of women will lose their chance of getting financial assistance from the Benazir Income support programme (BISP) as the computerized national identity card is essential for the holders of the cards.
