Peace committee session held in Booni

CHITRAL: In the session of teshil peace committee Mastuj
held here on Monday at Booni, the Chitral DCO Mutasim Billah Shah
assured the members that the local administration has taken all the
possible steps to maintain the ideal situation of peace and
tranquility of the district while the people should also play their
assigned role. The committee is the forum of union nazims,
councilors, religious exponents and representatives of civil
society organizations and holds its periodical session to discuss
the law and order situation. The DCO said that peace is invaluable
blessing of God which should be retained at any cost and the people
should shrink from no sacrifice and the people of Chitral are
fortunate enough to have an ideal situation of peace while the
neighbouring district are in chaos and confusion. Mr. Shah asked
the members to extend the peace committees on union council level
to make coordinated efforts to achieve the objective of maintaining
peace and effectively check any attempt of infiltration of
miscreants in their ranks. He asked the people to keep a close
watch on the strangers in the area and monitor any dubious and
suspected activities being carried out in their surroundings. On
this occasion, a great stress was laid on social harmony in the
area and it was unanimously decided that the religious leaders will
deliver sermons in the prayer congregations to highlight its
importance. They decided to form vigilance committees on village
level to keep effective check on the elements and their activities
detrimental to peace and order in the area. It was also decided to
educate the common people in the village level to recognize the
suspicious activities and cope with them instantly to preempt them.

Chitral Police nabs two procliamed offenders

CHITRAL: Chitral police arrested two proclaimed offenders
(POs) wanted in many heinous crime including murder to the local
police here on Monday. A press release issued from the office of
DPO Chitral issued here on Saturday said that district police chief
Muhammad Salim Marwat has strictly directed his subordinates to
come hard on the criminals and bring a zero balance of the POs. the
two most hardened criminals of Damil area bordering Afghanistan
named Noor Hussain and Abbas Khan were nabbed after much struggle,
the press release says. Both the POs had fled to Afghanistan after
committing the crime in 2004, it says and adds that no laxity will
be tolerated on the part of police officials to round the
criminals.
