Two persons were rescued at Lowari top

CHITRAL: Chitral police rescued two persons in the Lowari
Top where they were caught by blizzards and admitted them to tehsil
hospital Drosh here on Friday. Station house officer of Drosh
inspector Mohammad Khalid told chitraltimes.com that the two
persons Maqsood Ahmed from Sialkot and Toti Khan from Upper Dir
lagged behind the convoy of passengers they will traveling with
after crossing the Lowari Top and were caught by blizzards. On
hearing the news about the missing passengers, I rushed to the spot
for search and rescue and fortunately spotted both of them and
removed to the nearest hospital, he said. He said that the
condition of the two is curious but the doctors of the hospital are
hopeful about their recovery. Meanwhile, the residents of Chitral
have expressed their deep anguish over the stubborn attitude of the
federal government for not allowing the passengers to pass through
the Lowari tunnel despite the repeated demands of the people. They
said that the passengers cross the Lowari Pass in desperate
condition which has so far killed thousands of passengers. They
said that in the month of April, there is a dangers of snow
avalanches and blizzards any time in the Lowari Pass but the
passengers have no other alternative but the government is least
bothered the critical condition of its citizens in Chitral. They
warned that if any casualty of passengers occurred in the Lowari
Top, then the government will have to face the wrath of the angry
mob as the sentiments are running high against the federal
government for not allowing using the tunnel.
