District nazim wants reduction in PIA fares

CHITRAL: District nazim Maghfirat Shah has demanded of the
federal government to reduce the PIA fares for Chitral at least by
50 percent keeping in view the rampant poverty of the people. in a
press statement issued here on Friday, he said that the management
of the national airline has curtailed its fares for other domestic
flights but neglected Chitral which has dismayed the people. he
said that for the people of Chitral, PIA flight is the only source
to travel to the other parts of the country for five months of the
year. He said that it the basic responsibility of the state to
provide all-weather route to its people. he said that the fares of
PIA are beyond the capacity of a common man and it is a sheer
injustice with the poverty stricken people of Chitral. he said that
Chitral has been exempted from all kinds of central taxes but in
the PIA tickets for Chitral, the central excise duty is levied
which is not less than a joke with the people. the nazim demanded
of the government to make the PIA fares within the reach of common
people.
