LAPH holds seminar for office clerks and secretaries

CHITRAL: The speakers in the seminar on human rights held here on Monday, said that the women folk is the feeblest segment of society whose fundamental rights are prone to violation at the hands of their male partners. The seminar was arranged by Legal Awareness Programme for human rights (LAPH) for the ministerial staff of government offices while Niaz Ali Shah and Niaz A Niazi advocate of the organization and a local legal expert Asmat Isa Khan addressed on the occasion. They said that the LAPH is striving to create awareness about human rights in the area in different segments of society. They said that the basic rights of the weaker sex will be secured only if the support of the all the strata of the society is enlisted. They discussed in detail the varied nature of issues confronting the women and the role the workers in the government offices can play. In the working session of the seminar, the participants divided into two groups and listed the ways and measures to eradicate the rising trend of aggression against the women in the Chitrali society due to which the number of suicide is on the rise.

Enforcement of sharia regulation demanded

CHITRAL: The acting amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Chitral district Moulana Israruddin Al-Hilal has demanded of the government to reinforce the Nizam-i-Adl regulation in the district. In a press statement here on Monday, he said that the people of Chitral are eagerly waiting the regulation which ensures them speedy justice. He warned the government that any delay in this regard will have negative results on the area. He said that the people of Chitral are already familiar with the Shariat laws which were in vogue till 1969 when the district was merged with the province.
