CSWA Oath taking ceremony held
Chitraltimes.com Report
PESHAWAR: NWFP Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan
has strongly demanded that one seat in each department of Peshawar
University be reserved specifically for the students of Chitral
excluding the students of Northern Areas from it as Chitral is a
settled district of NWFP whereas Northern Areas have a totally
separate administrative set up under the direct control of the
federal government. He termed it as injustice to Chitrali students
to have one seat reserved for both the Students of Chitral and
Northern Areas.
He was addressing as chief guest at the oath taking ceremony of the
newly elected cabinet of Chitral Students Welfare Association (CSWA)
at Archives hall in Peshawar the other day.
He said that there were reserved seats for the students of Northern
Areas in almost all the educational institution of the country as
Northern Areas are directly administered by the federal government
whereas there are no reserved seats for the students of Chitral in
any educational institutions except Peshawar University which is
also shared by the students of Northern Areas. Hence there should
be seats reserved only for Chitrali Students in Peshawar University
otherwise seats be reserved for Chitrali students in all those
institutions of the country where there the students of northern
areas have got reserved seats; he demanded.
Felicitating the newly elected cabinet of CSWA Saleem khan
expressed the hope that the newly elected cabinet would muster all
its efforts and abilities to highlight the problems of Chitrali
students, fight for their due rights and promote the true cultural
and moral values of Chitral. He urged the students to focus solely
on their education and prepare themselves for the challenges of the
practical life.
The present government is giving top most priority to the promotion
of education and during the last one year revolutionary steps have
been taken in this direction with very much encouraging results;
Saleem khan maintained. He said that through his personal efforts a
cadet college had been approved in Chitral and work on the same is
going to be started soon. I would make special request to the
president and the prim minister to establish a campus of Shaheed
Benazir Bhutto University at Chitral keeping in view its
backwardness and tough geographical conditions.
Addressing the function the newly elected president of the
association Iqbal Murtaza highlighted the aims and objectives of
the association and the problems of chitrali students in Peshawar
University strongly demanding the concerned authorities to address
them. The function was also addressed by former member National
assembly, Mualana Abdul Akbar chitrali, Advisor federal Shariat
Court Qazi Fazl Elahi and President Chitral Youth Welfare
Organization, Sadiq Amin. Earlier provincial Minister administered
oath to the newly elected cabinet of CSWA and announced a sum of
twenty five thousands rupees for it.
