Consumers  rejects the increase in WSU water bills

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: The residents of Chitral town have rejected the increase in the rates of water bills for domestic consumption and asked the government to order the Tehsil Municipal Administration Chitral to repeal its decision of arbitrary increasing the water charges. They alleged that Water and Sanitation Unit (WSU), a subsidiary of TMA Chitral has increased the tariff but without improving the quality of service. They said that many localities of the city are without water for the last many months but their residents are receiving water bills regularly. They alleged that the decision of the increase should have been made on the floor of the tehsil council but it was decided in some other unauthorized forum. When contacted by our correspondent to know his version, Sartaj Ahmed Khan, tehsil nazim Chitral who is chairman of WSU by virtue of his office, said that it had become unavoidable to increase the rates of drinking water as the prices of every other things are going higher and higher. He said that the decision was taken at the forum of Water Body which was an authorized body and it consisted of all the stake holders.
