Release of daughter from the hands of abductors appealed

CHITRAL: Shah Nawaz Khan, a resident of Kalash valley Rumbur
has appealed the government to recover his daughter Shazia from the
clutches of abductors who taken her to the Nooristan of
Afghanistan. Talking to newsmen at Chitral Press Club here on
Tuesday, he said that some years ago, Hafizullah of the village but
soon after started persecuting and harassing her married his
daughter. He alleged that they kept her in virtual confinement and
did not allow her to meet her parents and brothers for more than
two months against which he moved the local court who got her freed
and handed her to him. He said that in the meantime, he filed a
suit in the court for decree of cancellation of marriage deed to
save her daughter from her abnormal husband and cruel in-laws who
treated her inhumanly. He said that the case is being heard in the
court but some two months ago, Amanullah, the father-in-law of his
daughter broke open his house in the mid-night supported by nine
armed persons who abducted her daughter at gunpoint. He said that
the local police did not take the matter earnestly and wasted a lot
of time by not registering the case which helped the accused to
fled her daughter to Nooristan area of Afghanistan which has common
borders with Kalash valley of Chitral district. He expressed his
concern and apprehension about the condition of his daughter in
Nooristan. He said that though some relatives of the accused have
been arrested by the local police and sent to judicial lock-up, but
his daughter continues to suffer at the hands of perpetrators. He
demanded that the government should contact the Afghan government
to seek the release of his abducted daughter.

TMA Chitral employees want their salaries released

CHITRAL: The former employees of TMA Chitral have demanded
of the government to reinstate them in their services forthwith to
save their family members from hunger and starvation. Talking to
the local newsmen here on Tuesday, Munajat Khan, Mohammad Ayub and
other said that they worked as compressing machine operators with
the defunct district council whose services were transferred to TMA
Chitral some seven years ago with devolution of power. They said
that their days of misery started seven months ago when their
services were transferred to district government but the district
government refused to accept their services on the plea that the
machinery were not in running condition. They said that they are
unable to draw their salaries neither from TMA nor the district
government.
