DCO checks prices of commodities in Chitral city

CHITRAL: District coordination officer Mutasim Billah Shah carried a general price checking of the commodities of daily life in Chitral city here on Thursday and imposed fine on shop keepers involved in overcharging, sources said. He imposed fines on the profiteers which included butchers, fruit and vegetable vendors, nan-bais and owners of general stores. The sources said that the butchers the DCO also visited the local branches of utility stores and found wheat flour missing on which he expressed his anguish and directed the store staff to ensure its availability during the Holy month of Ramazan. The DCO asked the people present on the occasion to extend cooperation to the government by reporting to the police any case of overcharging of the commodities and get the profiteers punished. He said that the district administration has evolved a strategy to keep the prices under control but it will meet failure when the people did not cooperate.
