Changing political scenario in Chitral and local PPP leadership
With the resignation of Mr. Pervaiz Musharaf as president on August
2008, the political scenario in Pakistan has taken a new turn. The
future of \PML(Q) seems at the brink of collapse and crakes are
widening among the ranks of two major ruling parties, the most
unnatural and fragile coalition in the political history of
Pakistan. Changing political scenario in Chitral and local PPP leadership
No doubt during the last election, the people of Pakistan gave
their verdict and elected their representatives by focusing the
five year’s performance of the Musharaf led government. Like the
few other constituencies of Pakistan the majority of voters in
Chitral reposed their confidence in Musharaf by electing PML Q
candidates for the national assembly and one of PA. This was not
the political affiliation of people of chitral with the PMLQ rather
it was the admiration of the charismatic leadership of Shahzada
Muhaudin and strong commitment of Musharaf which together changed
the dream of |Lowri tunnel in to reality. Changing political scenario in Chitral and local PPP leadership.
In this changing scenario when Musharaf has relinquished his
office, the meeting of MNA Prince Muhaudin (present MNA) with PPP
Co- Chairperson and the Prime |Minister has rekindled a wave of
hope and jubilation among the local PPP workers in chitral. No
doubt the people of chitral owe much to Shaheed ZA Bhutto and
Shahid Benazir Bhutto for their political wisdom, farsightedness
and development work. But due to the leadership crises (started
soon after 1990) among the rank of PPP, it has not been able to
capture the NA seat after 1989 bye election. Presently the party
has split in to pro and anti nazimin groups which is the indication
of vibrant and volatile leadership crisis at district level. Changing political scenario in Chitral and local PPP leadership.
In such bleak and uncertain situation, the Prince Muhaiuddin’s
decision, to join PPP has been mostly welcomed among the grassroots
PPP workers and intellectuals, the real strength of the party.
Certainly it will close the chapter of party exploitation by those
unscrupulous elements who enter the party from the back door and in
no time succeed to divert the so called leadership support just for
the snatching the party ticket.
Prince Muhaiuddin had started his political career from the
platform of PPP and in 1985 non party election he was elected MNA
with support of PPP. He has always shown soft corner for the PPP.
No doubt he is one of the important political figure in Chitral,
even in the politics arena of Pakistan. In capacity of minister,
MNA, Distinct Council Chairman and District Nazim, he has vast
experience of politics. He has spread a network of developmental
works in Chitral. He enjoys the support of a big chunk of voters
called Muhaiddin’s personal vote bank. Being most disciplined,
sincere, mature and undisputed politician, he enjoys respect among
all the faction of people in chitral.
It is high time that local PPP leadership and workers should avail
this opportunity with most zeal and enthusiasm. His joining PPP not
only restore the confidence of the workers but also retain the
political identity of Chitral as a mini Larkana.
