Federal Govt reinstate the NA Compensatory Allowance to CS.....ASAC

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: The president of All Servicemen Association Chitral Lt Col (retd) Sardar Mohammad, general secretary Amanullah, president of Chitral sub-division Khalil Ahmed and others have demanded of the federal government to reinstate the Northern Areas Compensatory Allowance to the personnel of Chitral Scouts which they enjoyed from the year 1974 to 2005 and rid thousands of families from economic trouble. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, they said that in 1974, the then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had sanctioned 25 percent of basic pay scale as special allowance to the personnel of the civil armed forces in the Northern Areas including Chitral Scouts. They said that the special privilege was accorded to them because of the backwardness of the area and the hard and inhospitable nature of the environment in which they perform their duties. They said that after the revision of pay scales in the year 2005, the employees of Chitral Scouts are being denied NACA which is a sheer injustice with them. They said that the abolishment of the allowance has also deprived those employees who went on retirement after 2005 of a substantial amount which they were entitled for at the time of retirement. They said that it was the government of PPP in 1975 when the allowance was granted and now it is again the rule of PPP when we demanding to revive it. They demanded of prime minister to look into the matter and issue orders to release the allowance with the arrears of three years not only to the serving employees but also to those who have been retired after 2005.
