Salim Khan visits the flood affected area of Gobore

CHITRAL: Provincial minister of population welfare Salim
Khan has said that PPP is the representative party of poor people
and the major development works have always been started during the
reign of the party in Chitral. Addressing the flood affected people
of Gobor village situated at Pak-Afghan border here on Wednesday,
he said that the present government of PPP is concentrating its
efforts to bring Chitral at par with the developed areas of the
country. He said that in the past, the ruler parties have always
neglected the backward areas due to which even the basic
necessities of life are not available here. Mr. Khan said that a
comprehensive strategy is on the anvil to provide relief to the
affected people of natural disasters while the sufferings of the
dsasters will be mitigated in future. The minister directed the DCO
to compile report about the damages of infrastructure of the area
so that they may be reinstated before the arrival of winter season.
He also directed the DCO to prefer the unemployed youth of Gobore
area in the recruitment of border area. He announced 1.5 million
rupees for the reinstatement and repair of Garam-Chashma road.

Free medical camp under DADP at Drosh

CHITRAL: Drosh Area Development Programme (DADP) held a
three-day free surgical camp at Drosh town during which forty five
major operations of complex nature were carried out while 550
persons were examined. DADP Director Sardar Abdur Rehman told this
scribe that his organization had obtained the services of the
renowned urologist of Mayo hospital Lahore Dr. Mohammad Ayub and
his team for which Al-Dawa Trust had extended financial assistance.
He said that the patients belonged to all parts of the district
whose time and money was saved by this camp because they would have
to go to Peshawar for the purpose. He said that healthcare
facilities are very limited in the district while majority of the
population were too poor to go to the down district for treatment.
He said that DADP will organize medical camps for other common but
complicated diseases.
