Salim Khan call for peace and tranquility

CHITRAL,: Provincial minister of population welfare Salim
Khan has said that Chitral district presents an ideal situation of
peace and tranquility and all the segments of society and political
parties should contribute to retain it at any cost. Addressing a
gathering of people on the occasion of the final match of football
tournament at Drosh here on Tuesday, he said that terrorism poses a
great threat to the country for which the previous government is
responsible for its flawed and self-centered policies. He said that
the provincial government is doing its utmost to bring back
normalcy and peace initiatives are afoot on earnest lines. Mr. Khan
said that the high rising prices of the commodities of daily life
are also the direct outcome of the wrong economic policies of the
previous governments. He said that the government is coming out
with concrete steps to mitigate the sufferings of the common
people. He said that the poor man will get maximum benefit from the
present government very shortly. Without naming anyone he said that
some personalities remained in power in Chitral enjoying their
votes for many successive terms but the area remained backward as
ever. He said that they served themselves instead of the poor
people of the district who are still facing abject poverty. Mr.
Khan said that during his short stint in power, he got approved two
water supply schemes of 50 million rupees each at Chitral town and
Drosh and a project of Rs. 4 million at Arandu which were the long
standing demand of the people. He said that as announced in Shandur
polo ground last month, the chief minister will come out with a
comprehensive package of development in Chitral by which most of
the problems will be solved. The minister gave away prizes to the
football players of the tournament in which Ayun football team beat
Afghan XI Drosh by 3 to zero. District president of district
football association Sajjad Ahmed Khan was also present on the
occasion.
