Residents of Denin want lining of water channel
By our correspondent
CHITRAL: The residents of Denin village have demanded of the
government to include the lining of their irrigation channel in the
annual development programme of irrigation department which
irrigates thousands of hectares of arid land but a large fraction
of water goes waste due to seepage. In a press statement issued
here on Wednesday, the social workers Abdul Qadir, Moulana Rashid
Ahmed and others said that the people of the village have no
capacity to undertake the work of widening and lining of the
channel by themselves. They said that the thousands of acres of
arid land will be made arable if the channel is widened and this
will change the very fate of the poor people of the area.
