Minister lauded the role of AKHSP

PESHAWAR: NWFP Minister for Population
Welfare Saleem Khan has said that role of Aga Khan Health
Service (AKHSP) in providing healthcare facilities to the ailing
humanity of Chitral is very important and highly appreciable. The
AKHS has been providing basic healthcare facilities to the people
of the far-flung areas of Chitral at their door steps.
He expressed these views while addressing a MoU signing ceremony
among Health Department NWFP, District Government Chitral and AKHSP
regarding the strengthening of Rural Health Centre Shagram, Chitral
in Peshawar on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary Health NWFP, District Nazim
Chitral, DCO Chitral, Chairman AKHSP and other concerned quarters.
Under the MoU, the Health Department, AKHSP and District Government
will work together for five years to provide basic health
facilities to the local population by strengthening the RHC Shagram.
Under the MoU, the management of the Centre has been handed over to
AKHSP for five years while a health committee has been constituted
comprising the local elected representatives, lady councilors and
elites to monitor the performance of the Centre, District Nazim
Chitral will be the Chairman of the committee ad DCO Chitral will
be its co-chairman.
The committee will also identify poor and deserving patients who
will be provided free treatment facilities at the centre.
The Provincial Minister for Population urged the health department
and AKHSP to promote public – private partnership and sing more
MoUs of the same nature to strengthen the non-functional health
centers in different parts of Chitral.
