IMPLEMENTATION OF PRESIDENT DIRECTIVE URGED

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL: Nazim of union council Mastuj Syed Ibrahim Shah, naib nazim Mahmoor Khan, councilors Mohammad Faiz, Eid Ali, Taqat Wali and others have expressed their utter disappointment over the non-implementation of the directives of the President Musharraf for the construction of suspension bridge at Mastuj and blacktopping of Booni-Shandur Road which he had announced three years ago. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, they warned that the passions of the people are running high and they may block the Shandur road on the occasion of Shandur festival scheduled for next month. They said that the government departments are causing undue delay in the commencement of work on the projects despite their repeated protests and demands. They said that both the projects are of immense importance not only for their union council but also for the entire district as these connect Chitral with the Northern Areas and will promote trade and tourism. Chitral will be linked directly with the Chinese market only through the bridge and the road, they added. They told that the works and services department invited tenders for the bridge so many times but cancelled it for no specific reason. They also said that no utility store has been opened in the union council which had been announced by the president one year ago during the Shandur festival.
